Plurk: Your Life, On the Line
Putting your life on the line is not always looked upon as a common leisure-time activity, unless you happen to be a user of Plurk (http://www.plurk.com). Plurk is a site that allows you to post snippets of your life, which are then all logically organized within a scrolling timeline for an instant snapshot of your day's activities. Think of it as Twitter (http://www.twitter.com), another blogging site encouraging short frequent updates, with an interesting twist.
Through the power of AJAX and other web 2.0 technologies, the developers of Plurk were able to bring the novel concept of brief life updates to a new level of pizazz. As you start making posts, your short updates are sorted in chronological order on a stylish timeline, scattered across the screen in a colorful and attractive fashion.

If the simplistic nature and unique approach to micro-blogging aren't enough to convince the die hard web enthusiasts, Plurk also offers more advanced features like customized site themes (including custom CSS) and karma points which are earned by consistent and quality plurk postings. I also found the ability to select an upgraded site creature once more karma points have been earned rather encouraging.
Mobile updates by text message (SMS) was one of the features that I found quite convenient when using Twitter, and is functionality that I hope to see in the near future from Plurk.
As with most good things in life, Plurk is free and signing up is incredibly easy. You'll be amazed at how quickly you can add little morsels from your day to your timeline.
