MSU's Logo Redesign and Branding: Fate or Fatal?
Logo makeovers can prove to be tricky and involves a lot of consideration. Like previously mentioned in our entry "Out with the Old...", when done correctly it can prove to be very beneficial to your company or organization. With the new redesign of the MSU logo, I don't think anyone can tell what the outcome will be.
Spartan fans were in disbelief and negative when the new proposed logo was leaked last week on popular student/fan blogs. The new logo is set to be released in April among other elements to the rebranding plan that will slightly change the look of MSU athletics.
Designed by Nike, the logo eliminates some detail to the iconic helmet and in my opinion, resembles more of a "Trojan" style helmet.

What has been the viewer's reaction since the leak? Within the first 48 hours, the new information was popping up in conversations, blogs, and social media sites and NOT in the good way. Well gee! Tell us how you really feel! I never even attended MSU during my college years but I even received 3 different group invites on facebook, which were all completely against changing the new logo. One of the many groups "pro old logo" has over 51,000 fans.
According to a poll on SpartanTailgate.com, 9.31% of readers answered that the new logo is better while 90.69% answered negatively and against the logo redesign. (As of today, 462 people voted)
So far the web uproar has created minimal press and no recent administration react. Will MSU follow through and unveil a whole new MSU logo identity in April or will this prove to be a very good April Fools joke from the administration?
