I read Curt's blog post yesterday and was astonished at the number of lost or stolen laptops at airports alone! This thought coupled with the recent loss of a customer's laptop got me thinking: Why don't we strongly urge our customers to protect their own and their customers information? How can I convey to our customers just how important this is?
I quickly rounded the corner to Curt's office and we started to chat. We both agreed that our customers and consumers in general are somewhat aware of how serious of a concern this should be but there are many reasons why they may not act upon it. We were convinced the number one reason would probably be, "It couldn't happen to me." Truth of the matter is, it could.
The Olympics are finally here. What has been hyped to be best Olympic games to date has in no way fallen short of this suggestion. A stunning opening ceremony, all-star athletes, and endless television coverage to keep us involved helps make the 2008 Summer Games simply amazing.
But what's even more exciting for us "technophiles" is what's happening out here on the web. For the first time in Olympic history, you can watch almost any round of any event live on the Internet. All 2,000+ hours of it with an additional 3,000+ hours of on-demand coverage available as well.
At Core3 Solutions, we like to keep hosting simple. That's why we have two hosting plans - one that most businesses fit in to, which is our Business Standard hosting, and one for our eCommerce customers and businesses that depend on their email which is our Business Critical hosting.
As our customers needs continue to evolve, we decided it would be best to roll out a third choice. We call it our Business Enhanced hosting. With this new option you get all the great benefits of our Business Standard hosting service and more. What's even better is that we're discounting it 25% for the entire month of August!
Wow! What an Expo! Last week's Tech Expo once again went off without a hitch. It was quite an exciting event with close to a dozen vendors and over one hundred attendees. The "Going Green" event also encouraged people to bring in their computers for recycling. We collected a mountain of computers, monitors, and peripherals that were all taken away for recycling by re.Source Partners.
Birmingham Mayor Donald Carney and several City Commissioners along with members of the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber and Macomb Chamber, joined us as well, to commemorate the opening of our new retail and computer services area with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
I'm always telling people how I wake up every day looking forward to work. I love every part of it, from learning about something new almost every day to helping build a great company with great employees. What makes it even better though is one of our latest initiatives, Going Green. It's quite a buzz-phrase lately and there's no time better than now to jump on the bandwagon!
Not only have we started a recycling program in our office and began purchasing "green energy" at our data center, but we're building our entire Tech Expo this year around a "Going Green" theme. We're very excited about it and hopefully after reading this blog post, you will be too.
